Mindfulness in Schools
What is mindfulness?
Mindfulness is learning to direct your attention to your experiences in a focused way. Many children are surprised to learn that paying attention is something that they practice and improve. Supporting children’s education with mindfulness techniques will help them learn about their thoughts and feelings as well as learning itself.
What do the classes look like?
We begin by introducing key concepts of mindfulness through experiential exercises. As they become familiar with ideas, we systematically teach simple techniques that help them focus their attention on their breath, their feelings and their thoughts. By becoming an observer of their experiences, they enjoy a new perspective that allows them freedom to make better choices and move through life with more skill. The students become more focused as they practice and enjoy feeling calm and at ease.
